Advantages to Exercising During Pregnancy

Giving birth is physical event for your body so prepping for it can certainly benefit you in many ways. You’re not just using one muscle at a time while delivering a baby so you should think of a total body exercise regime for optimal conditioning. *Always check with your medical practitioner prior to beginning any exercise!

It’s a known fact that prenatal, moderate exercise reduces backaches, increases muscle tone, strength and endurance and can prevent excess weight gain. It can also aid with constipation, bloating and swelling and help you have a better night’s sleep.

Pregnancy can weigh heavily on you too – literally! The thought of getting into a bathing suit may send you screaming under a blanket but don’t let it. Swimming is a wonderful way to exercise without the fear of falling or feeling unstable so embrace that maternity bather and enjoy the wonderful, weightlessness a pool can offer!

Exercise is a mood booster as well. Those wonderful work-out endorphins keep you on a natural high leaving you more upbeat, energised and happy. When you have more energy and are genuinely happy, you take the maternity glow to a whole new level!

Again, before starting any new exercise routine, you should always check with your doctor/midwife to make sure you are choosing the best physical activities for you and your baby.
